My students are offered the opportunity to rehearse and perform in "additional" cello ensemble classes. forming cello duets, trios, quartets, and quintets. Several of these groups have been chosen in the YOCJ chamber music series, as well as Music Fest. The groups perform regularly in our studio recitals as well!
These classes offer a wonderful way for cellists to gain a variety of experiences, through classical, rock and folk music:
confidence performing and expressing themselves musically
playing in ensembles
improvising and playing rock music
making friends and sharing ideas about cello playing
In additional master classes and mini master classes with guest artists from time to time, students gain experience being coached and learning about cello repertoire.
During the pandemic, my students have been very flexible and we have learned a great deal about rehearsing effectively with zoom and recording on bandlab!
Each year we have two studio recitals at Dutch Neck Presbyterian Church.
